Mutual influences of prizonization and resocialization of the prison population

The aim of the thesis is to contribute to the understanding of the issue of prisonization and resocialization in the prison population. A qualitative research design was chosen, in which our sample of the prison population was monitored with the help of semi-structured interviews were described the influences that affect the mentioned concepts and the ways in which they manifest themselves in the respondents. The research sample consisted of 16 respondents serving prison terms in medium and high security. The respondents were in the Prague Ruzyně Prison at the time of the research. These were men whose ages ranged from 29 to 57 years. The results of the research showed that the prisonization of our respondents is mainly influenced by: the influence of other inmates, the use of prison argot, loss of activity and initiative, not acquiring any new skills and knowledge needed for life in freedom, purposeful adaptation to the given rules, misunderstanding the meaning of the given rules , lack of communication, lack of individual approach of the prison staff and insufficient influence of the staff on the convicts.
